Washington gives military aid to Lebanon

General of the US Central Command, Joseph Fotill, and Elizabeth Richard, the US ambassador to Beirut, announced a US military aid program for Lebanon after a meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri. The US delegation discussed with Hariri the challenges facing Lebanon and stressed the importance of the policy of “self-restraint”, confirming Washington’s commitment to support Lebanon and its institutions, including the army.
Foutel and Hariri talked about three new programs of the US Defense Department to support the Lebanese army worth more than $ 120 million, according to a statement issued by the US Embassy in Beirut. These include six light MD 530G attack helicopters, six unmanned Scan Eagle drones, and the latest communications and night vision devices.
