The First Toys for Tots “Battle of 2 Cities” Competition between Dearborn Police & Dearborn Heights Firefighters

Making sure every child has a toy under the Christmas tree is Toys for Tots’ goal.

And this year the cities of Dearborn and Dearborn Heights are battling to see which community can gather the most toys to make that happen.

The Dearborn police took on Dearborn Heights firefighters in the first Toys for Tots “Battle of 2 Cities” competition of its kind between the communities.

Newly elected Dearborn Heights City Councilman Bill Bazzi coordinated the effort with Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad, who’s issued a challenge to neighboring cities for the past several years with no takers.

Wednesday was the battle’s big day as both cities strived to collect the most donations of new, unwrapped toys as well as money.

In the end ,whoever won the battle doesn’t matter the big winners are the kids.
