A crash on an icy St. Clair County road Thursday morning has left two people dead, officials said.
St. Clair County sheriff’s deputies were called at about 6:30 a.m. to the scene of a crash on M-25 near Jeddo, according to authorities. Burtchville Township is located about 12 miles north of Port Huron and about 72 miles northeast of Detroit.
Deputies closed the road for about two and a half hours to enable them to conduct an investigation.
According to a preliminary investigation, a 30-year-old Burtchville Township woman was driving a 2004 GMC pickup truck north on M-25 when she lost control of the vehicle on an icy bridge. The truck crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a vehicle driven by a 40-year-old Lexington man. A third vehicle, driven by an 80-year-old Fort Gratiot Township man, then crashed into the first two vehicles, the sheriff’s office said.
The pickup’s driver and her passenger, a 38-year-old Burtchville Township man, died from their injuries, police said. The other two men were taken to a hospital with injuries.
