Michigan, Ohio Secetaries of State make friendly election wager

Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson met with Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose at the UM-OSU football game in Ann Arbor, where the two made a friendly wager with one another.

Both are attempting to get the highest voter torunout percentage in the 2020 general election.

If Michigan has a higher turnout, LaRose will have to wear maize and blue, and sing the Michigan fight song at next year’s Wolvrines-Buckeyes game.

If Ohio wins, Benson will wear scarlet and grey, and sing the Ohio fight song at the match

Both states had a voter turnout of near 64 percent in 2016, while the 2018 midterm showed a higher turnout rate in Ohio.

On the football field, Ohio State beat Michigan 56-27 Saturday, Nov. 30, in Ann Arbor.

Wikipedia shows the two football teams have met on the gridiron 116 times. Michigan has 58 victories, Ohio State has 51, and six games have ended in a tie. The Buckeyes are currently in an eight-game winning streak against the Wolverines, from 2012-2019.
