Google Doodle honours Mother’s Day in MENA region

Mother’s Day in the Middle East and North African region is featured in the Google Doodle for Wednesday, 21 March 2018.
Mother’s Day is a day observed globally and celebrated at different times of the year in many countries.
The mainly Sunni Muslim countries of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region observe Mother’s Day on 21 March of each year. Another country not necessarily in the MENA region that marks this day, is the island nation of the Comoros, located in South East Africa, between northern Mozambique and Madagascar.
However, not every country in the MENA region marks Mother’s Day on 23 March, this includes Algeria, Iran, Israel, Morocco and Tunisia.
The MENA Mother’s Day Doodle features mutlicoloured hand paintings, of children and adult hands, as well as what looks like green and yellow turtles or even dinosaurs on a patch of grass.
The Doodle is currently drawing interest from Google users in major cities in the Middle East and North Africa region, including Morocco, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon and Qatar.
