    US judge refuses to drop a lawsuit accusing Saudi Arabia of supporting the September 11 attacks

    A US judge on Wednesday rejected Saudi Arabia’s demand to drop claims in the United States that accuse the kingdom of helping to plot the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and demanding compensation for the victims.
    Judge George Daniels said the allegations by the appellants “provided a reasonable basis” for him to assert jurisdiction over proceedings under the Justice Act against Terrorist Sponsors of 2016.
    Daniels dismissed the complainants’ claims against two Saudi banks and a Saudi construction company that accuse the three of providing material support to al-Qaeda and Osama bin Laden for carrying out the attacks, citing lack of jurisdiction.
