While concierge services are usually described as personalized guest services in hotels and at hospitality venues, residents at Beaumont Commons, Dearborn are enjoying much of the same.
“We do everything we can to help our residents stay safe during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic,” said Delfina Mauricio, who is director of resident services and oversees transportation, activities and receptionist duties at this senior living community.
According to Mauricio, drivers are available to take residents to doctor appointments and when they are not driving or maintaining the vehicles, they help in numerous other ways.
“Our drivers are adding more campus duties to their routines, such as delivering morning newspapers and packages to residents,” said Mauricio. “They’ve also become very good at personal grocery shopping, and some residents will ask for certain drivers, because they know what items residents like.”
Family members also stop by with packages and food that are delivered by staff directly to residents’ apartments.
Mauricio reveals that residents have also discovered shopping online, because the number of Amazon deliveries has dramatically increased.
Drivers are also shopping for the community store, keeping the shelves stocked with residents’ favorite items and assisting at the register as needed.
“We are like a family here,” said Linda Nickerson, administrator of Beaumont Commons, Dearborn. “Delfina and her team are very in tune with residents’ needs.”
It would be no surprise to learn that Mauricio, who has 26 years’ experience on the campus, noticed one resident’s disappointment not to have any potted flowers for her patio this year.
“I had some potted begonias at home, so I asked if I could deliver them to her patio for watering while I was away for a few days,” said Mauricio. “She happily agreed, and it’s okay if she wants to keep them.”
