Dearborn Town Center senior apartments break ground

Senior citizens looking for a place to call home during their golden years soon will have another option in the city.

Construction kicked off Nov. 1 on the Dearborn Town Center Senior Living apartments, a 77-unit development at Calhoun and Michigan Avenue in the east downtown area.

Touted as attractive, affordable housing designed for senior citizens, the building will house 77 one- and two-bedroom independent living apartments and is set to open in fall 2018.

Community partners and city officials came together for the groundbreaking on Nov. 1. Among them were Mayor John O’Reilly, Jr.; City Councilmen Robert Abraham and Mark Shooshanian; officials from Redico, a partner and developer; MHT Housing, a partner; and the Michigan State Housing Development Authority.
