Caretaker Minister of Education, Dr. Tarek Al-Majzoub, on Friday welcomed Qatar’s ambassador to Lebanon, Mohammad Hassan Jaber.
The pair followed up on the required procedures and correspondence to implement the Qatari donation, which aims at contributing to a large part of the restoration and rehabilitation process of of Lebanese public schools that have been affected by Beirut port blast.
Minister Majzoub expressed thankfulness and appreciation for the Qatari stance towards Lebanon in light of the catastrophe that struck the capital in the wake of Beirut Port’s devastating blast. He also stressed Lebanon’s need to accelerate the implementation of the donation.
“Lebanon stands at the doorstep of a new academic year, while thousands of students need to get their schools rehabilitated in order to return to them and continue their education,” said Majzoub.
In turn, the Qatari ambassador affirmed the Emir of Qatar’s directives to stand by Lebanon and support it in various fields, especially the educational sector, stressing the Lebanese “firm determination to restore life, build institutions, and revive the country.”
