Amid diplomatic spat, Yair Netanyahu posts ‘Fu*k Turkey’ on Instagram

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s son waded into the diplomatic spat between Jerusalem and Ankara Wednesday by sharing an image saying “Fu*k Turkey” on Instagram.
Yair Netanyahu, who has previously provoked controversy with his social media posts, shared the image, replacing the letter “c” with the crescent and star of the Turkish flag.
In response a spokesperson for Netanyahu’s family said, “Yair Netanyahu is a private individual and his Instagram account is private.”
Israel and Turkey are involved in an ongoing tit-for-tat over Israel’s response to Monday’s violent protests at the Gaza border.
The Hamas-run Gaza health ministry said 62 Palestinians were killed and more than 2,700 more injured in clashes.
The IDF said Tuesday that at least 24 of the dead were members of terror groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Those two groups subsequently acknowledged 53 of their members were among the dead. Israel claims that Hamas is spurring the violence and using it for cover for attacks.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan placed the blame squarely with Israel, accusing it of being a “terrorist state” that commits “genocide.” Turkey recalled its ambassador in Tel Aviv and expelled Israel’s envoys to Ankara and Istanbul.
Israel responded in kind, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying Erdogan “well understands terrorism and slaughter” and should not preach to Israel over military ethics.
Israel expelled Turkey’s consul-general in Jerusalem and, on Wednesday, summoned the country’s deputy ambassador in Tel Aviv for a dressing down.
Last year Yair Netanyahu was in hot water for posting a cartoon on Facebook with references to Jewish billionaire and philanthropist George Soros, the Illuminati and some sort of lizard creature.
The cartoon took aim at his parents’ critics, including former prime minister Ehud Barak, lawyer and Labor party activist Eldad Yaniv, and Menny Naftali, a former caretaker at the Prime Minister’s Residence, who is at the heart of allegations of wrongdoing over which Sara Netanyahu, Yair’s mother, is facing indictment.
Yair Netanyahu posted the graphic with the caption: “Food chain.”
