Canvassers from the non-profit organization Clean Water Action will tour on houses of Dearborn

Over the next several weeks, canvassers from the non-profit organization Clean Water Action (CWA) will be going door-to-door asking for donations, signatures, and other forms of civic action. CWA is a national environmental organization with the stated mission of “working for clean and safe water, waste prevention and funding for enforcement of environmental protection.”

CWA has provided the Mayor’s Office and Dearborn Police with the names of all canvassers, who will carry photo identification cards from the organization. Their engagement within the City falls under constitutionally-protected political speech. Additionally, the City of Dearborn has verified the organization’s 501(c4) tax-exempt status, and Chief of Police Issa Shahin has signed a canvass verification form.

Canvass activities will take place between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m., Monday-Thursday, and between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday. The canvass will conclude on Monday, February 28.
