Prime Minister Saad Hariri is expected to travel to Egypt and Kuwait before making his return to Lebanon, media reports said Sunday.
Pan-Arab TV channel Al-Mayadeen reported that Hariri’s short tour of Arab states would take him to Egypt and Kuwait prior to his return to Lebanon in time for Wednesday’s Independence Day celebrations.
MTV’s correspondent in Paris, where Hariri is currently staying, said too that Cairo was likely on the premier’s itinerary.
Hariri arrived in France early Saturday from Riyadh, where he has been staying since Nov. 3. He announced his resignation from the premiership in a televised address broadcast from Saudi Arabia on Nov. 4.
Reports have emerged that Hariri’s aunt, Sidon MP Bahia Hariri, and Future Movement’s Secretary-General Ahmad Hariri arrived Sunday morning in France.
Several of Hariri’s close aides and Future Movement officials have traveled to France to meet with the premier, including his Chief of Staff Nader Hariri and Interior Minister Nouhad Machnouk.
