Dearborn Heights’ 2017 Tree Lighting Ceremony Set For Dec. 5

Nothing symbolizes Christmas like the city’s annual tree lighting ceremony.

This year’s festive event is set for Dec. 5 at Dearborn Heights City Hall, 6045 Fenton.

The celebration begins at 6:30 p.m. with music from the Crestwood High School jazz band. Guests also can register at that time to win a chance to help Santa Claus light the Christmas tree at the event. Children ages 3 to 12 are eligible to enter.

Christmas caroling and other entertainment will follow the tree lighting at 7.

Everyone is invited to the free holiday celebration. Santa will be on hand for visits after the tree lighting, and parents are encouraged to bring their cameras and capture special photos of their children with the jolly old elf.

The Dearborn Heights Parks & Recreation Department sponsors the annual event.
