Globally, monkeypox infections are increasing, and this is what the WHO has stated

The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Ghebreyesus, stated that the number of confirmed cases of monkeypox in the world exceeded 3,000.

At the opening ceremony of the WHO Emergency Committee session on the situation of monkeypox, he said: "More than 6 weeks ago, the World Health Organization received a notification of a group of 3 cases of monkeypox in Britain without any travel outside its borders. Since then we have received data on more than 3,200 confirmed cases and one death from 48 countries.

He added that in countries where monkeypox has recently been recorded, cases originally occurred among men who had "homosexual" contacts.
