28 injured in protests in the Iraqi capital

Today, Saturday, the government security media cell in Iraq announced that a group of its members were injured during the protests that erupted in the capital, Baghdad, this morning.

“Despite repeated calls by the security services not to allow intruders to enter the crowds, but with great regret, we note that there are outlaw elements who were present during these demonstrations and used illegal tools and materials during the demonstrations,” the State Security Media Cell stated in a press release.

"19 officers and members of the force charged with securing protection for the demonstrators were injured, while 9 civilians were injured in the protests that took place in Baghdad today," it added.

"The injuries sustained by the security forces were the result of the use of stones, glass balls and Molotov cocktails," it continued
