American actress Amber Heard, the ex-wife of American star Johnny Depp, is trying to evade paying the $15 million fine imposed by the court for Depp, after a source close to her revealed that she had become “bankrupt.”
A source close to Heard added, in statements reported by American newspapers, that Heard was "bankrupt" due to the exorbitant legal fees that had cost her the defamation trial brought against her by Johnny Depp, in which he demanded $50 million in compensation.
According to the "Post" newspaper, Heard's net worth currently ranges between 1.5 million and 2.5 million.
While her lawyer stated that the American actress does not have enough funds to cover the fine approved by the jury in court. The trial of Depp and Heard revealed that the 36-year-old actress received only one million dollars for the first part of the movie "Aqua Man", and two million dollars for the second part, due to be released next year, after significantly reducing the space for her role.
Heard lost a set of trademark agreements after Depp's lawyer filed a defamation case against her in court.
Heard also did not fulfill her promise to donate the $ 7 million she received from Johnny Depp during the settlement before their official divorce, in 2016, which she announced that she would allocate to Children's Hospital in Los Angeles and human rights organizations defending civil liberties. In her confession before the court, she said that she was late in paying the donations due to the legal fees and bills imposed on her by the court, which confirms that she has gone through financial difficulties.
Experts told the Post that Depp may get his money from his ex-wife's wages in her next two films, or take over her California home.
