A flight is grounded in Israel after passengers received photos of crashed planes before takeoff

A flight preparing to take off in Israel was grounded on Tuesday after "passengers informed cabin crew that images of crashed planes were sent to their mobile phones," according to authorities.

The Israel Airports Authority said in a statement that the accident occurred at Ben Gurion Airport outside Tel Aviv, and nine passengers were detained for further questioning.

One of the photos received by passengers, according to photos released by the Israel Aviation Authority, was the wreckage of Asiana Airlines Flight 214, which crashed while trying to land in San Francisco in July 2013.

Another photo was of Turkish Airlines Flight 1951, which crashed in Amsterdam in 2009, killing 9 passengers.

It was not immediately clear how many people were on the plane.
