A Lebanese minister shows the possibility of his country's companies entering Najaf

Najaf Governor Majid Al-Waeli and Lebanese Minister of Agriculture Abbas Al-Hajj Hassan discussed joint cooperation, while the latter indicated the possibility of Lebanese companies entering the agricultural sector in the province.

"The Governor of Najaf, Majid Al-Waeli, received in his office on Sunday evening, the Lebanese Minister of Agriculture, Abbas Al-Hajj Hassan and his accompanying delegation, and during the meeting, joint cooperation was discussed," the governor's office said in a statement.

"Hassan showed his admiration for the great development in the governorates of Najaf and Holy Karbala, especially in the agricultural sector, and expressed the possibility of Lebanese companies entering the agricultural sector in the governorate," the statement added. He also praised "the great ability of the Iraqi government and people to absorb the millions of numbers that came to the Arbaeen visit."

"The governorate is witnessing a great leap in projects, through the good allocations it received from the emergency support law this year," Al-Waeli said.

He pointed out that "the province's administration is heading towards investing in desert areas and cultivating wheat therein using modern agricultural techniques," pointing to "the water crisis that the country is suffering from and the huge losses it has caused in the cultivation of basic crops this year."
