A patient was admitted to the hospital to treat one of his eyes but he came out blind

The Slovakian agency "TASR" reported that a patient was admitted to the hospital to treat one of his eyes, and he lost the healthy eye.

A spokesman for a university hospital in Bratislava said the doctor who performed the operation had been denied access to patients.

The hospital provided the victim and his family with psychological care and support to deal with the consequences.

According to the agency "TARS", the Health Supervisory Authority has launched an investigation into the circumstances of this unprecedented error, and this tragic error occurred against the background of a dispute in the Slovak health sector.

A week ago, the medical association "LOZ" said that about 3,000 doctors had expressed a willingness to leave work if the poor salaries and increasingly unsustainable working conditions did not improve.

Because of the migration of medical staff, especially to the Czech Republic and Austria, the doctors remaining in Slovakia have been exposed to more workloads for years, and the Corona pandemic has worsened the situation.
