A woman discovers by chance that for more than 40 years she has been visiting the wrong grave of her father!

A British woman discovered that she had been visiting a grave other than her father's for more than forty years, which shocked and frustrated her.

Sylvia Ross, 67, buried her father, John Thomas Thompson, at Wheaton Park Cemetery in Bishop Oakland, County Durham, in 1979. Since then, she has regularly visited his grave and taken flowers with her to celebrate his birthday, Father's Day and Christmas.

But she had recently received the disappointing news that the grave she frequently visited was that of another, Frederick Brown, and that her father was lying in another grave a few meters away. Durham City Council had mistakenly placed Thomas' tombstone by Frederick Brown, and Sylvia learned of this mistake when the Brown family asked the City Council to place a monument on his grave.

Graham Harrison, Director of Cemetery Services, expressed his regret at the mistake and assured that the city council would move Thomas' tombstone to his proper grave as soon as possible.
