A woman sold the corpse of an infant to be used in "witchcraft"!

An Algerian court has sentenced a woman convicted of stealing the corpse of a newborn baby in order to use his body for sorcery and witchcraft.

According to the local newspaper, An-Nahar Al-Jadeed, the Criminal Court of First Instance in Oran province, western Algeria, on Tuesday sentenced a sanitation worker to seven years in prison after it was proven that she was involved in stealing the body of a stillborn infant in the government university hospital.

The incident that "shocked public opinion" occurred in March of the year 2019, when that worker decided to steal the infant's body and sell it to another woman for use in witchcraft and sorcery.

The other woman was also sentenced to seven years in prison, without revealing the identity of the two convicts, while 12 defendants were acquitted, including the head of the obstetrics department in the hospital, in addition to nurses and midwives.

The child's father had filed a complaint after he was informed of the mysterious disappearance of his baby's body. Later investigations resulted in the arrest of the cleaner, who sold her booty for about 500,000 Algerian dinars, equivalent to 3,500 US dollars.
