After a journey that lasted 27 years... Belgian designer Raf Simons is discontinuing his brand

Belgian designer Raf Simons announced on Monday the suspension of his fashion brand that bears his name after a "distinguished 27-year journey," without explaining more about his decision.

The 54-year-old designer wrote on his Instagram account, "The Spring / Summer 2023 collection marks the end of a distinguished journey that lasted 27 years, and the last season for the fashion brand Raf Simons."

"I can't find anything to say to express how proud I am of everything we've achieved," he added, thanking his team, his collaborators, "the media and buyers," his friends and family, as well as his "loyal fans."

American designer Marc Jacobs commented on Simmons' post, writing: "You are always amazing, always inspiring. Thank you, Raf."

Born in Nerbilt, Belgium in 1968, Raf Simons worked for Jil Sander, Dior and Calvin Klein fashion before becoming, since the spring of 2020, the co-design director of the Italian house, Prada.

And he previously launched the brand that bears his name in 1995, according to what was stated in a publication announcing the cessation of work with it on Monday.

Raf Simons postponed the last show of his brand, which was scheduled in London last September due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II, then returned and held it in mid-October in the British capital during the Great Frieze Art Exhibition.
