Benzema inscribes his name in the list of Real Madrid legends

Real Madrid's French striker Karim Benzema scored two goals against Manchester City, on Tuesday evening, against the two teams in the Champions League semi-final first leg, at Al Ittihad Stadium, the city's stronghold.

According to the "Opta" statistics network, Benzema scored 41 goals for Real Madrid this season in various competitions, and became the fifth player to reach 40 goals or more in the club's history in one season.

The network added, "Karim Benzema has become fifth in a list that includes Cristiano Ronaldo, Puskas, Di Stefano and Hugo Sanchez."She also stated that "Benzema became the first player in the history of the Champions League to score 5 goals away from the ground against two teams from one country in the playoffs of the tournament during one season."

Benzema scored his first goal against City today in the 33rd minute, and then in the 82nd minute from a penalty kick, using the famous “Panenka” method.

Manchester City is scheduled to host Real Madrid in the second leg at the Santiago Bernabino Stadium on May 4th.

The winner of the return leg qualifies for the final match, to meet the qualifier from Liverpool and Villarreal.
