Benzema shines with Real Madrid and crawls towards the throne of Ronaldo

Real Madrid's French striker Karim Benzema continued his brilliance this season and achieved records with Meringue for the first time, despite his presence within the royal walls since 2009, 13 years ago.

The French striker presents exceptional levels with his team, which leads the league standings this season.

Real Madrid regained the tone of victories and won a difficult victory over its host Celta Vigo, 2-1, in the 30th round of the Spanish League, thanks to two penalty kicks executed by Benzema.

Benzema, thanks to his double against Celta Vigo, has moved away to the top scorer in the Spanish league with 24 goals, 10 goals ahead of his closest followers, and this season is his best in the competition since his move to the ranks of Real in 2009.

In addition, Benzema is ranked third in Real Madrid's top scorer in La Liga history with 216 goals, equal to the legend Alfredo Di Stefano.

Benzema became close to the runner-up in the standings, Raul Gonzalez, who scored 229 goals, and continued to climb to the top of Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, Real's historical scorer in La Liga with 312 goals.

Interestingly, Benzema was close to scoring a hat-trick in the match against Celta Vigo, after Real won a second penalty kick in the 63rd minute, but he failed to score.
