The Egyptian Equestrian Federation responded to accusations against its officials of wasting public money due to the travel of 10 individuals, including Bill Gates' daughter, as part of the "Paris 2024" Olympics delegation, despite the participation of one rider at the state's expense.

The Egyptian rider participating in the Olympics, Nayel Nassar, is related to the American billionaire Bill Gates, as he is married to his daughter Jennifer Catherine.

A document was circulated on social media, approving the Ministry of Sports for the travel of 10 individuals as part of the Paris Olympics delegation, namely Ismail Al-Marqabi as head of the delegation, Karim Al-Sabki as rider administrator, and Wael Al-Mahjari as horse administrator.

The delegation includes Robert France as a trainer, Jennifer Catherine (daughter of American billionaire Bill Gates), Shannon Ray as horse owner, Ahmed Al-Sayed and Christopher Howard as personal trainers, and Jesus Octavio Sais and Estanislo Berlat Cruz Sais as a reserve.

The Egyptian Federation confirmed in its statement that Nael Nassar, a resident of the United States, and all the training staff, veterinarian, groom, horse owners, and support crews will travel directly from America to Paris with their own knowledge and at their own expense.

He added: "Their names were included in the mission for one purpose, which is to be able to issue entry permits to the stadiums and stables and to carry out their duties to support the rider, and not for the purpose of obtaining financial support from Egypt."

The Equestrian Federation indicated that the rider informed the Federation that he would transport his horse from America to France by plane at his own expense, and waived any financial support for him and his team.

He explained that the head of the mission sent a letter on July 4 to the Olympic Committee, informing them that he and the rest of the mission members would bear their full travel expenses, meaning that the Egyptian equestrian mission with administrators, riders, trainers, grooms, horse owners, veterinarian, and horse transportation will not cost the Egyptian state any money during its participation in Paris, unlike what happened in previous Olympic Games.
