China: Solving the Palestinian issue does not require a plan, but a living conscience

In his remarks at a Security Council meeting, Zhang Jun, China's permanent representative to the United Nations, stressed the importance of upholding fairness and justice on the Palestinian issue.


“What is lacking in solving the Palestinian issue is not a grand plan but a living conscience to establish justice. The fulfillment of its responsibilities by the Security Council does not depend on loud slogans, but on concrete measures,” he said.


"On issues related to the future and fate of the Palestinian people, no party has the right to veto," Zhang added.


He explained that an early, comprehensive, just and lasting settlement of the Palestinian issue remains the common aspiration of the international community, pointing out that the Security Council is bound by its duty towards the question of Palestine, and it must "take more forceful measures to support the Palestinian people in restoring and exercising their inalienable rights, and achieving lasting peace in Palestine."
