Egypt's delegate to the Security Council warns Israel against attempting to Judaize East Jerusalem

Egypt's permanent representative to the United Nations, Osama Abdel-Khaleq, warned in his speech before the Security Council, against Israel's continued attempt to Judaize East Jerusalem.

The Egyptian delegate said: "While Egypt condemns the Israeli forces' storming of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and the acts of violence that the Palestinians were subjected to in the mosque's courtyards, it stresses the need for restraint on all sides and to provide full protection for Muslim worshipers and to allow them to perform their rituals in the mosque, which is a pure Islamic endowment for Muslims." He pointed out that Egypt considers that the attempt of the occupation forces to impose their control over the city and change the legal and historical situation in the holy places, is a matter that threatens a dangerous escalation and represents a violation of Al-Aqsa Mosque, the first of the two Qiblas and the third of the Two Holy Mosques.

Abdel-Khaleq stressed that Egypt’s efforts with all regional and international partners to create the appropriate atmosphere for the resumption of negotiations between the two sides in accordance with the agreed international references, the Arab Peace Initiative and the two-state solution based on the June 4, 1967 borders.
