Erdogan: We are making an assessment regarding the number of ground forces needed to participate in an upcoming operation in northern Syria and Iraq

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan indicated that "the military air operation that we carried out in northern Syria and Iraq will not be limited to air strikes," announcing that "we will hold discussions about the participation of ground forces in the military operation (Al-Mukhalaf-Al-Saif)" in northern Syria and Iraq. .


He stated, "The Turkish Ministry of Defense is conducting an assessment and consultation on the number of ground forces required to participate in an upcoming operation," explaining, "We have made diplomatic contacts with countries that have a presence in northern Syria and Iraq, and we are taking our steps accordingly," stressing on the implementation of the military operation, on " We are not waiting for permission from anyone, and the United States should know us well from now on."


In another context, Erdogan indicated, "I hope that we will transfer the stage that began between us and the Egyptian side to a good point later through high-level talks," considering that "my handshake with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in Qatar yesterday is a first step towards normalizing relations, which will be followed by other moves." Noting that "our only demand from them (Egypt) is that they say to those who take hostile positions against us in the Mediterranean, we want to establish peace in the region."
