European cities are preparing to face power cuts amid the gas crisis.

The government of Spain imposed new rules last Tuesday that no company is allowed to cool its internal offices below 27 degrees Celsius or heat them above 19 degrees Celsius during the winter.

The decree, which is valid until November 2023, stipulates that the lighting of monuments will be stopped, stores are prohibited from lighting display windows after 10 pm, and stores are required to put an electric screen that shows the temperature inside to passersby.

Indeed, such restrictions are not entirely new, as public buildings in Spain, with the exception of hospitals, are required to cool 27°C, but the wide range of measures taken to save energy reflects the severity of the situation.
