German Defense: Our army is facing great difficulties because of the legacy of the past years

German Defense Minister Christine Lamprecht said that the fall of the Ukrainian missile in Poland revealed a gap in the European air defense system.

And she added, in an interview with the German newspaper "Rheinische Post": "We have to become better in all fields, especially in the field of air defense. There is a gap in Europe."

She stressed that the German army "is facing great difficulties after the savings of recent decades," noting that Berlin had proposed to Warsaw to provide it with "Eurofighter" fighters and "Patriot" air defense systems.

The German minister's statement comes days after a missile fell in Polish territory near its border with Ukraine, killing two people.

NATO confirmed that it did not see any indications indicating Russia's intention to attack Poland, noting that preliminary investigations indicated that the missile that fell in Poland was launched by Ukraine.

In the same context, US President Joe Biden said, "The explosion in Poland was the result of the Ukrainian air defense."
