Hebrew media: US officials intervene to release an American Jewish citizen educated in Jerusalem who was arrested in Lebanon

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation "Kan" reported that the Lebanese security forces arrested a Jewish-American citizen last week in Beirut, after it was discovered that he had recently been in Israel, while he was released two days later.

The Hebrew media said that "the American citizen is in his twenties, and he recently received his education in a large religious school in the city of Jerusalem, and arrived in Lebanon via Cyprus, and apparently wanted to spend a tourist trip in Lebanon and continue his way from there to the Kurdistan region of Iraq."

Officials familiar with the case were quoted as saying that "after his (the American citizen) arrived in Lebanon and reached his hotel, the Lebanese security authorities arrested him, after it became clear from the check-in process that he had made the reservation from Israel," while "in his passport, no There was no Israeli signature or stamp, as this matter further complicated the situation, as the Lebanese authorities apparently arrested him on suspicion of being a spy or collaborator with Israel," they said.
