High school sweethearts killed in collision with truck in Tennessee

A boyfriend and girlfriend who recently graduated from high school were killed when their Jeep collided with a truck in Tennessee.

A Tennessee Highway Patrol report says that a commercial truck hit the driver’s side of the vehicle driven by Austin Moffitt, 18, after the teen didn’t stop at an intersection around 10:30 p.m. Thursday in Dunlap — about 28 miles northwest from Chattanooga, The Charlotte Observer reports.

Moffitt was accompanied in the car by his girlfriend, 19-year-old Alexis McCann, both of whom were reported to be wearing their seatbelts.

The truck driver, who also had their seatbelt on, was uninjured, the outlet reports.

Moffitt and McCann both attended Sequatchie County High School together and graduated in May.
