In Italy, a Moroccan immigrant saved two children from drowning and died

Moroccan immigrant Rahal Amari died after he rescued two children at sea in southern Italy after swallowing a large amount of water.

On Tuesday, June 7, 2022, a Moroccan immigrant in Italian homes rescued two children who were swept away by the sea waves on a beach in the town of Castel Volturno, near Caserta, from certain death, and then drowned.

According to media reports in Morocco and Italy, Ammari had been working for about 20 years as a lifeguard on the same beach, before he became one of his supervisors. According to the same reports, Ammari heard that two parents were crying out for their sons' drowning, to intervene and save the first child quickly, then return to the second and succeed in the operation.

Then the Moroccan immigrant reached the beach and fainted.

The Italian embassy in Rabat offered its condolences on the death of Ammari, while activists on social media platforms launched the hashtag ("Goodbye Traveler"), in gratitude for the sacrifice of the Moroccan immigrant.
