Indonesian authorities: 32 children die in a stampede at a football match

An Indonesian government official revealed that the number of deaths among children after a stampede at a local soccer match in Indonesia has risen to 32, from 17 earlier.

The official at the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection told Reuters that the children ranged between 3 and 17 years old.

Earlier, Indonesia's Security Minister Muhammed Mahfud announced that his country would set up an independent fact-finding team into the deadly stampede of a soccer match in a stadium in East Java province and help identify those involved in the disaster.

At least 125 people died, and more than 320 others were injured, after police used tear gas to confront a riot at a local league match in Malang on Saturday.

Indonesia's president, Joko Widodo, has ordered the Premier League to suspend matches until an investigation into one of football's biggest stadium disasters is completed.
