Iran: We support the ceasefire as a prelude to lasting peace in Yemen

Today, Monday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian affirmed his country's permanent support for the Yemeni people, stressing the strong ties between the Iranian and Yemeni peoples.


In a meeting with the head of the Yemeni negotiating delegation, Muhammad Abd al-Salam, Amir Abdollahian announced Iran's support for the start and extension of the ceasefire in Yemen, considering it a prelude to establishing lasting peace, and hoped for a breakthrough in the humanitarian situation in Yemen after the full siege was lifted.


While briefing the Iranian Foreign Minister on the political, security, humanitarian and military developments in Yemen, Abd al-Salam praised Iran's support for the Yemeni people, criticizing the incomplete implementation of the basic elements of the ceasefire and the bad faith of the other party.


Abd al-Salam also considered that achieving the humanitarian issues of the Yemeni people is necessary to advance any just peace in Yemen
