Lavrentiv: 18,000 armed men in Idlib, northern Syria

The Russian President's special envoy to Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, said that there are 18,000 militants affiliated with the Syrian opposition in the Idlib region of northern Syria.

He pointed out that among them, about 6.5 thousand militants belong to the radical opposition, and the rest are moderates.

The Russian envoy added: "In Idlib, out of 18,000 militants, about 11,500 can be considered moderate opposition. There are still 6,500 militants who are militants who should not remain in that area."

Meanwhile, Lavrentiev noted a significant decrease in the frequency of Russian air strikes on the areas controlled by the Syrian opposition, where the situation is improving and stabilizing.

He said that this fact is recognized by the Turkish side and the Syrian opposition.
