Library to Host US Paralympic Athlete Cheryl Angelelli-Kornoelje

DEARBORN, Mich. – Dearborn Public Library will be having a Summer Reading wrap-up program titled “Anything is Possible: Para Athlete Series” on Saturday, August 13 at 11:30 a.m. at the Henry Ford Centennial Library auditorium, 16301 Michigan Avenue, Dearborn.

Para swimmer Cheryl Angelelli-Kornoelje will share her inspiring story of how she overcame a broken neck injury and became a Paralympic medalist. Afterwards, a special playtime opportunity on the west side of the building will feature an obstacle course and lawn games provided by Special Olympics of Michigan (weather permitting).

Angeleilli-Kornoelje won Bronze and Silver medals in swimming events during the 2004 and 2008 Paralympics, was inducted into the Michigan Athletes with Disabilities Hall of Fame in 2000, and was named the Female Amateur Athlete of the Year by the State of Michigan in 2000 and 2003.
