Man arrested, charged after 26-mile chase in Van Buren Township, officials say

Carl Travis was arrested Friday night after fleeing by car for more than 26 miles and then trying to get away on foot.

Travis was arraigned in the 34th District Court Monday (Aug. 8), he tried to see if the judge would grant him a lower bond, but she stuck to the $500,000 she set, taking into consideration a personal protection order the victim, in the case, had against him and the 26-mile long chase he led police on Friday.

On Friday night, the urgent call for help came from The Waverly on the Lake Apartments in Van Buren Township.

Moments earlier, a man who police identified as Travis showed up at an apartment his ex-wife was at. He attempted to drag her by her hair to his car, prompting the call and chase.

Van Buren Township police responded quickly as Travis jumped into the SUV seen in the video player above and took off., which prompted the chase.
