Meijer, White House partner to improve access to nutritious food

Meijer will soon partner up with the federal government to offer discounts on fruits, veggies, and food stamps.

The partnership comes as the White House sets out to end hunger and reduce diet-related diseases by 2030.

Wednesday, the president detailed more about this plan at the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health.

Meijer's commitment is part of the more than $8 billion in pledges from the private and public sectors.

The White House says more than $4 billion will be dedicated to organizations that improve access to nutritious food, promote healthy choices, and increase physical activity.

The plan is broken up into five pillars. You can see the five pillars and the partnerships that will support them detailed below.
