Qatar and Egypt plan to enhance mutual investment and trade cooperation

The Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir and the President of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani discussed, on Tuesday, the relations of joint economic cooperation between business organizations in the two countries and ways to develop them.

On the sidelines of his meeting with Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, Samir said that the ministry is fully prepared to provide all kinds of support to all Qatari companies investing in the Egyptian market, and to overcome the obstacles they face to encourage them to expand current investments and pump new investments into the Egyptian market in the near future.

He stressed that trade relations between Egypt and Qatar witnessed a great development during the past year, achieving an increase of 84.3% compared to 2020, while Qatari investments in Egypt amounted to $121.8 million during the first quarter of the 2021-2022 fiscal year.

He pointed out that there are promising commercial opportunities for exporters and importers from both countries to meet the needs of the Egyptian and Qatari markets, and to export to foreign markets thanks to the trade agreements that Egypt has with various international markets.

“There is a consensus in the visions between Egypt and Qatar regarding the importance of maximizing the benefit from the enormous industrial and commercial potentials of the two countries, and translating them into joint projects that contribute to the advancement of their economies and meet the aspirations and hopes of the two peoples,” stressed the Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry.
