The Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement regarding the conversation that took place at the initiative of the Turkish side: "Today, a telephone conversation took place between Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu and Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar, as they discussed the current situation in northern Syria, as well as issues related to the continued implementation of the Black Sea initiative." ".


On October 17, Ukraine and Turkey confirmed the extension of the grain export agreement through the Black Sea for 120 days, in a move that was welcomed by the Secretary-General of the United Nations.


On the Syrian issue, the Turkish Ministry of Defense confirmed that "Ankara's priority in northern Syria is to prevent the terrorist threat."
