The British newspaper “Daily Mail” reported that scientists have developed an application for smart devices that can determine whether a person has Covid 19
The app is called resapp, and it uses a machine that can analyze cough sounds.
The newspaper pointed out that during testing the application, the curators found that the application was able to detect Covid 19 in 92 percent of infected people.
In this context, Professor Catherine Bennett, a member of the
implementation team, said that the epidemiological situation and the
development of the pandemic mean that we need diagnostic equipment that
balances our current heavy dependence on rapid tests and PCR, noting that the
new application will contribute to reducing the number of PCR and rapid antigen
tests required. .
The application relies on a machine that can pick up certain signals in the cough.
During the experimental phase, the responsible team relied on 741 patients in the United States and India, of whom 446 were infected with corona.
Participants filled out a survey about what symptoms they were experiencing and coughed into a smartphone that included the resapp app.
The results revealed that the app was able to correctly identify the virus in 92 percent of infected people.
In subsequent examinations, the researchers tested whether the application
detects the presence of corona only, by testing it on the coughs of 1,7
patients facing other respiratory disorders
The results found that the application accurately detects only Covid infection.
In addition, the
developers mentioned that the application will initially be used in places
where periodic Corona checks are required, such as places for travel, sports
and health activities.
