A 14-year-old boy was arrested outside Indianapolis, Indiana, on a preliminary murder charge after police said he shot and killed his 17-year-old brother.

Police in Kokomo responded at about 3:40 p.m. local time on saturday. At the scene, the victim told police that his 14-year-old brother had shot him and fled the area.

Police said the victim was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital but died of his injuries.

The 14-year-old was found approximately one mile from the scene and arrested.
