The Brazilian Parliament "Congress" convenes a private meeting in Brazilia in solidarity with Palestine.

The session was convened at the request of deputies who support the palestinian cause. "We cannot be silent on the continuing crimes committed by the Israel occupation, because silence on  the crime is participation in it." Said the federal deputy, Paulo pimenta.

Parliament inserted message of solidarity on its agenda with the Palestinian cause coinciding with the 74th anniversary of the" Nakba" in support of the Palestinian people."The blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip for more than 16 years due to the only sin represented in the Palestinians exercising their natural democratic right to elections and to vote in 2006." Said Ahmed Shehadeh, president of the Brazilian Palestinian Institute.

The meeting was called by showing the Palestinian national anthem and showed a video clip that reflecting the reality of Israeli settlements in the West Bank, and its reflection on the lives of Palestinians. The present deputies (117 deputies) praised the struggle and sacrifices of the Palestinian people, and demanded their support. "This session comes at a very important time to show the whole world that the Brazilian people will not change their position of solidarity with the Palestinian people." Said the session's chairperson, Representative Camilo Cabeberebe.

The session comes at a time when Brazil is preparing for the presidential elections next October, and opinion polls suggest that the left-wing candidate "Lula da Silva", known for his support of the Palestinian cause, will win over his opponent, the current president, Israel's ally, "Jair Bolsonaro".
