The resignation of a county health official in Michigan, what is the reason?

A county health official frustrated by the “politicization of public health” during COVID-19 has resigned from her job in southwest Michigan. Courtney Davis has been the interim health officer for Berrien County since July when she was promoted from deputy. Davis ordered masks to be worn in local schools to limit the spread of COVID-19, although the order was canceled on September 29 when the Health Department thought its government funding would be at risk. She said at the time that it was “appalling” that funds were being tied up to hide policies. Davis said it was an honor to have worked in the department for nearly five years.
