The Syrian army launches a ground operation with Russian air cover to pursue ISIS in the Badia

The Syrian army is launching a ground operation, with Russian air cover, to pursue ISIS militants in the Badia desert, east of the Syrian province of Raqqa.


And “Sputnik” agency quoted field sources in the countryside of Raqqa, that units of the Syrian Arab Army began today, Thursday, a ground operation to comb the Badia and the rural areas between the administrative borders of the governorates of Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor, including the Badia of Jabal Al-Bishri in particular.


The agency stated that the operation, which was launched by units of the Syrian army with the support of the joint Syrian-Russian warplanes, witnessed "in its first hours a series of air strikes and direct clashes with the remnants of ISIS, which resulted in the killing and wounding of militants of the terrorist organization."
