The UN envoy to Yemen announces the parties' agreement to form a committee to implement the largest prisoner exchange deal

The Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, announced that "the parties to the conflict in the country have agreed to form a joint committee to support the implementation of the largest prisoner exchange deal."

The office of the UN envoy said, in a press statement, that "the supervisory committee for the implementation of the agreement on the release and exchange of detainees between the parties in Yemen concluded its sixth meeting in the Jordanian capital, Amman, after 6 days of consultations to determine the names of detainees who will be released based on the numbers agreed upon in March of this year, which includes the exchange of 2,223 prisoners and detainees.

He stated that "the parties agreed to intensify efforts to determine definitively the lists of detainees and to unify them by all parties as soon as possible," adding: "To this end, it was also agreed to facilitate visits by the International Committee of the Red Cross to detention centers to help verify identities." .
