Today, Thursday, the United Nations called on the parties to the conflict in Yemen to extend the current truce, which expires next week.
Grundberg stressed: "The parties must renew the armistice to ensure the continuity of these benefits and their enhancement for the Yemeni people, who have long suffered for more than seven years as a result of the war," adding that "the armistice provided a window to break the cycle of violence and past suffering to move towards a peaceful future in Yemen. The parties should seize this opportunity." The United Nations envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, said in a statement: "We have seen the positive effects of the truce on the daily lives of Yemenis."
