The United Nations names a training program for journalists after Sherine Abu Aqleh

The United Nations announced that its annual training program for Palestinian broadcasters and journalists will be named "Shirin Abu Aqleh".



The Spokesman explained that this was decided "in honor of Shireen Abu Aqleh, the Palestinian-American correspondent of Al Jazeera, who was killed in the occupied Palestinian territories on May 11th." The International Organization in New York: "The Department of Global Communications (DGC) of the United Nations decided today to name its annual training program for Palestinian broadcasters and journalists the Sherine Abu Aqleh Training Program for Palestinian Broadcasters and Journalists."

He added, "Sherine Abu Aqleh had a distinguished career in journalism for a quarter of a century, and she was a pioneer for Arab women, and a role model for journalists in the Middle East and around the world."


He continued: "Our colleagues in the Department of Global Communications stress that her legacy and courage should be cherished."
