Turkey: 471 targets have been destroyed since the launch of Operation "Claw - Sword" in northern Syria and Iraq

Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar announced that "Turkey has destroyed about 471 targets since the launch of Operation Claw - Sword against terrorists in northern Syria and Iraq, in conjunction with the neutralization of no less than 254 PKK and SDF fighters."

The Turkish minister said, "The military operation began with an air attack, which is the largest, most comprehensive, and most effective in the last period, and it is continuing successfully."

At dawn on Sunday, Turkey launched the "claw - sword" air operation, the aim of which, according to Akar's statements, is to target the PKK forces, the "SDF" forces and the "ISIS" organization.

A few days ago, a senior Turkish official said that Ankara intends to pursue targets in northern Syria after it completes an operation against the PKK militants in northern Iraq, after a deadly explosion occurred in Istanbul at the weekend.

The official pointed out that "the threats posed by Kurdish militants or ISIS to Turkey are unacceptable," indicating that Turkey will eliminate the threats on its southern borders "one way or another."

In turn, the Kremlin warned, yesterday, Turkey against "destabilizing" in northern Syria through its raids, stressing that "this may backfire and further complicate the security situation."

Turkey usually carries out attacks inside Iraq and Syria against the Kurdish People's Protection Units in Syria, and the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which has bases and training camps in the Sinjar region and in the mountainous areas of the Iraqi Kurdistan border with Turkey.
